Goffstown seeking its oldest resident

Goffstown officials are looking for the oldest town resident to be the new holder of the Boston Post Cane, carrying on a tradition that dates back to 1909.

The most recent recipient of the cane, Colombe Ouellette, died April 30th at the age of 108.  Ouellette was delcared to oldest resident in September 1995.

To qualify, a person must be living in Goffstown at the time the cane is given to him or her.  Residents of nursing homes are eligible for the cane, but they must have lived in Goffstown before entering the home.

Nominations can be made by calling the town clerk at (603) 497-8990, ext 109.
