D'Avanza & Hunter vote against cutting selectmen's wages
Motion passes regardless by 3-2 vote

GOFFSTOWN - 11/01/06:  At their meeting of October 23, 2006, the Goffstown Board of Selectmen voted to reduce their wages by 50%.

As the board has struggled of late in its efforts to cut the budget and keep the Town tax rate in check, selectman Nick Campasano made a motion to cut the annual wage amount (Line 41200 of the 2007 budget) - a total for all 5 selectmen of $20,364 - in half to $10,182.

Seconded by selectman John Caprio, an "aye" vote from Chairperson Barbara Griffin insured passage, as long-term selectmen Phil D'Avanza and Bruce Hunter both voted in opposition.  The motion passed by a 3-2 margin.

When contacted by the GRA, Campasano said "I figured if we are asking the department heads to accept budget cuts, we could lead by example.  Phil and Bruce both voted against the motion."
