Zip Code Plan for Pinardville Proposed
Plan would create additional zip code

By JILLIAN JORGENSEN

GOFFSTOWN - The Goffstown Board of Selectmen on Monday night brought up an issue first considered a decade ago: a new zip code for 12,000 to 15,000 addresses in the Pinardville area of Goffstown that currently share a zip code with West Manchester.

Gross said the new plan, proposed by resident David Pierce, would create an additional Goffstown zip code for the area, so it would no longer have the Manchester zip code.  The previous plan introduced 10 years ago would have joined Pinardville to the zip code used in the village and mountain areas of Goffstown, Gross said.

The original plan had received lukewarm results in a survey of residents and businesses by the U.S. Postal Service, Gross said.  Town administrator Sue Desruisseaux said surveys are not always the best way to gauge resident’s interest.

“You need to really explain what it means and answer their questions,” she said. “You really need a dialogue.”

Gross said the board decided to ask Pierce if he would like to look further into the issue.

“We don’t want to extinguish something that certainly may have some viability down the road,” he said.  “Maybe we’ll take action on it, but at this time we didn’t want to devote any of the board’s time to it, simply because of all the other things we have going on right now.”
