Don't complain if you don't vote

To the Editor:

I attended the Goffstown School District deliberative session on Feb. 5 and would like to thank the 81 voters who did not support the amended article.

I would also like to thank the 189 voters who supported the amended article.  Not because I was one of them, but because they were part of the 270 voters who took the time to attend the deliberative session.  Taking the time to be part of the process is what this country is all about.

The final vote on three separate articles added approximately $1.6 million to the Budget Committee's recommended budget.  I urge all concerned taxpayers to consider what the additional expenditures will add to their already high property tax bills and encourage them to get out and vote against Article 2 on the school side of the March ballot.  This article alone accounts for an increase of $1.387 million of the total.

If you do not exercise your right to vote, then in my opinion, your forfeit any right to complain about your town tax increases if the article passes as is.
