Let's put politics behind us and enjoy the holiday season

Prepare to gain about 20 pounds in the next two weeks.  Do absolutely nothing but lay on your couch, watch re-runs and eat an un-Godly amount of junk food.  Yes, it is that time of year again.  Time to eat, drink and be merry.  The holiday season is now upon us.

In a Norman Rockwell, picture-perfect world, this would be a time to join with your family and take stock of all your blessings.  Gather around the hearth and sip some eggnog.  A time for the world to come together in peace, love and harmony.

The holidays are a time to take a vacation.  Sit back, take a deep breath and leave the debates on budgets, tax rates, roundabouts and whatever else is bugging you to the other 11 months and some odd days of the year.

Is it too much to ask for everyone to put aside their political opinions and just enjoy a good holiday meal?  Lay down your protest signs, suspend the letter-writing and open some presents.  Gather around the Christmas tree and sing some carols.  Light up the menorah and be happy.  Whatever you do, don't let politics ruin the festivities.

As we all head off for Christmas break (finally), let's leave the politics and debating behind.  Go get fat, decorate a tree and enjoy a
safe and happy holiday season.
