Dedicated to Securing A Truly Perfect Location for Goffstown's Future Kindergarten & Elementary Schools

State Deadline for $2.2M in Construction Aid Extended to 2006

Time Now Afforded For Finding "Proper" Location

CONCORD, NH -  Senate bill FB 90-FN-A-LOCAL now extends the kindergarten construction program and extends the authority to bond and the bonding limit for the construction of kindergarten facilities through the fiscal year ending June 30, 2006.  This extension now affords Goffstown the time to properly research and secure a truly perfect location for construction of a kindergarten (and, hopefully, a future elementary school).

As most taxpayers remember, the Glen Lake location was hastily chosen late in 2004 when the original, "perfect location", the Tibetts Hill site, was plunged into litigation.  Faced with an original June 2005 date for announcing a site and an opening date for securing nearly $2.2M in state aid for building Goffstown's kindergarten, town officials hastily scrambled to find a replacement site.  GRA believes the Glen Lake site was chosen solely to meet the original deadline and not for its suitability as a site for the school.  Indeed, as Scott Gross was quoted as saying in the Goffstown News on February 17, 2005, "...the Glen Lake property is the best they're going to come up with in time. 'We've got two minutes left in the fourth quarter'."

Thank God for the children of Goffstown that Mr. Gross's "game" was granted a one year extension.  Now let's see what our elected officials do with that extra time.
