I would like to publicly announce my candidacy for the position of Selectmen for the town of Goffstown.

I am running because I can make a difference. I care passionately about this town and the direction that it takes. I’d like to see it remain a “town”, with the charm and benefits that living in a small town should have.

The are many reasons that I believe I will make a good selectmen. One of them is that I am an idea person. Whether it is my initial idea or someone else’s, I am very talented at being able to think outside the box, and come up with solutions. I do this by asking questions and listening to many different people to get the different perspectives. I am logical and definitely a “fiscal conservative” - sometimes you can’t have everything you want all at once.

I firmly believe that our elected officials need to “listen” to the residents of our town. And we need to find more creative and easier ways to get input from the people. Not everyone can attend all meetings, and finding out about major changes taking place after the fact just doesn’t seem right. Maybe we need to make our website more interactive with different contact information for different issues. For example, have you ever had your driving line of sight blocked by a tree or bush? Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to easily report it so that it can be taken care of? Or being able to email your selectmen, planning board members, etc., directly? And the Town itself needs to find better ways to “get the word out” in a timely matter, not after the fact, because that’s when all the kicking and screaming starts, and by then it’s too late.

I would welcome the opportunity to serve Goffstown and it’s people, and ask for your support on election day, March 13th.

Tricia Wynne
